SUMMARY
The research on addiction is for some decades at the crossroads of having to accept (or reject) the existence of possible non-toxic addictions, existing in Today a heated debate. This article critically reviews the arguments made by proponents of each of the positions. From a detailed analysis of the so-called video game addiction ", we discuss the major methodological shortcomings incurred a lot of work in this field and criticized the simple transposition of the alleged" behavioral addictions "of the criteria for evaluation of "substance dependence. Likewise, it is suggested the provisional label of "abuse" as the most appropriate for most of these behavioral addictions.

ABSTRACT
In the last decades, the research on the addictions is facing the dilemma of accepting (or rejecting) the existence of possible non-toxic addictions, which is currently generating a hot debate. In this article we will review critically the theoretical and practical basis of the proponents of both points of view. We will analyse in depth what has been called the “video game addiction”, and we will comment the important methodological deficiencies that can be found in most of the works on this topic. We will also criticize the simple translation of the substance dependence diagnostic criteria for the diagnostic of such “non-toxic addictions”, and will suggest the convenience of the interim use of the label "abuse" to Refer to MOST of These Behavioural addictions.
Key words: addiction, abuse, dependence, assessment, diagnostic.
